Winter has returned – for the third time this season – if you’re playing along at home. We have received 8” inches of snow since last night with even more in the forecast. As the calendar nears March, lesser mountains may be wrapping up snowmaking operations for the season, but at The Beast, we go bigger and are continuing to make snow on key expert trails such as Superstar and Outer Limits as well as crowd-favorite cruisers such as Bunny Buster, Caper and Chute. The Mountain Ops team had nearly 140 active snow guns running on Tuesday night! Long story short, we are in fabulous shape for this coming weekend. Be sure to check the conditions report for the most up-to-date information and download the Killington app for real time updates.
With all this new snow and plenty of trails on which to enjoy it, we are expecting The Beast to be popular this weekend. We strongly encourage you to carpool this weekend, and if you don’t need rentals, consider parking at Bear Mountain. As an extra incentive, the Bear Mountain Quad will have an early opening of 7:30 a.m. on Saturday, February 25. If you’re not an early riser, or just want to make the most of your day, consider adding Fast Tracks for all day access to exclusive lanes at our most popular lifts.
You may also want to check out Pico Mountain on Saturday, where things are 100% open and Mini Shred Madness will take place in the Exhibition Park at the base at 10:00 a.m. This one’s for the groms, and you can sign up your little ripper online here or onsite from 9:00-10:00 a.m.
Once you’re done skiing and riding for the day, we have some great après on tap for Saturday. Red Bull Winter Vibes will kick off behind the new K-1 Lodge at noon with specialty Red Bull cocktails, free ski and board tunes, a photo booth and live DJ. Inside the K-1 Lodge, our culinary team will be offering a fresh seafood raw bar beginning at 3:00 p.m. We also have live Happy Hour music from Krishna Guthrie at the Wobbly Barn rocking this and every Saturday of the season at 6:00 p.m.
Of course, you shouldn’t wait until Saturday to visit. This Friday we will be continuing Play Forever Fridays, donating $1 from every ticket sold at Killington Resort and Pico Mountain to a selected charity. February’s beneficiary is The VT Professionals of Color Network in honor of Black History Month. And speaking of Friday, it is officially operating day 100 for the 2022/23 winter season! A handful of folks will be joining the club that day, but if your own day count leaves something to be desired, don’t despair – the longest season in the East will continue and there’s many more great days to come.
March ushers in our spring events schedule, kicking off with the Slash & Berm Banked Slalom (Register here) on March 3-5. Unlimited Spring Passes go on sale March 1, 2023 for just $349 and are active March 17 through the end of the season.
