Happy Hanukkah! As the festival of lights kicks off tonight, we’re enjoying some mid-winter conditions in early December. We’ve continued to drop ropes and add terrain around the resort with a couple big debuts to mention. Race training has wrapped up and Superstar officially opened to the public today. Snowshed slope will open Friday to welcome the PSIA ProJam to Killington, along with the Snowshed Lodge opening for food service and rentals. And the Woodward Park Crew is building out the terrain park on Mouse Run for its opening this weekend.
Our snowmaking team has been working hard as temps allow us to expand terrain even further with guns pointed at Lower East Fall, while the Canyon Quad is scheduled to spin for the first time this weekend. For you touring enthusiasts, our uphill routes at Pico Mountain open on Saturday and the early season route on Ramshead will open soon. Be sure to review our uphill policies and get your armband before you venture out. Check out the conditions report for the most up-to-date information on open trails.
The Vermont Holiday Festival takes place December 8-9 at the Killington Grand Hotel. Embrace the holiday spirit as you grab breakfast with Santa, enjoy the music, browse local vendors for the perfect gift and enter a raffle for a chance to win your favorite Christmas tree from the 70+ decorated trees on display. This weekend you’ll also be able to try out the latest skis from Blackcrows, and set up slopeside at the K-1 Lodge on Saturday and Sunday. Register online for the chance to join one of their sessions at 9:00 a.m. or 1:00 p.m. to try out their swallow-trailed UFO skis.
Looking forward just a bit, Wednesday, December 13 is Killington’s 65th birthday and we will be celebrating with a cake from Dreammaker Bakers at 3:00 p.m. in the K-1 Lodge. All are invited to join in the festivities. And that’s not the only major milestone we’re celebrating this year. The Peak Lodge has officially been open for a decade, and the Wobbly Barn Steakhouse turns 60 this winter. Speaking of the steakhouse, it’s now serving dinner Friday and Saturday through December 14. On December 15, we’ll open for dinner service Tuesday-Sunday.
See you on the trails!
