It seems Mother Nature has finally come out to play this season, with a midweek storm that delivered 15” of fluffy white stuff and no wet finish this time. Her previous efforts over the past couple weeks, although a bit on the heavy side, did set us up with a great base and we can truly take advantage of the snow. Over 90% of our terrain is currently open including trees, steeps and gentle learning terrain, with 70 miles of trails to choose from in total.
The cold temperatures have also enabled our snowmaking team to crank out tons of snow on trails including Downdraft, Timberline, Lower Great Eastern, Bear Cub and Sun Dog over at Sunrise. Next up, we’ve got our sights set on Outer Limits, so get those mogul skis ready! And don’t forget, the Bear Quad will spin at 7:30 a.m. this and every Saturday through March. Be sure to check the conditions report before you arrive for the most up-to-date information on open lifts and trails.
After a great day on the slopes, head into one of our base lodges for an après warm-up. The K-1 Pub is always rockin’ with live local music starting right around 2:00 p.m., but don’t forget about the Long Trail Pub at Snowshed! With its own great menu, music and table service, it is the perfect place to unwind. This weekend, our friends from Kona Big Wave are adding to the fun with Winter Après Indoor events
Looking for some family fun aside from skiing and riding? Head down to Rutland, where Killington’s new exhibit at the Wonderfeet Kids Museum opens this Friday. The Killington Resort Mountain Playground exhibit is the largest in the museum’s new space on Merchant’s Row and spans all four seasons of mountain adventure. Children will be fully immersed in all the activities Killington has to offer. They’ll be able to pedal bikes to get a taste of mountain biking available in the summer and experience snowboarding using Burton Riglet snowboards to get a feel for the winter months. Other interactive activities include a slide, a mini rock-climbing wall, a magnetic wall to design your own trail system, photo stand-ins, and even a kid-sized Waffle Cabin.
See you on the trails!
